Actress Urvashi Rautela’s team has said it is pursuing legal action against a Los Angeles-based artificial intelligence company over the alleged unauthorized use of her name, photographs and videos.

In a statement issued on behalf of the actress, her team alleged that the company used Urvashi Rautela’s identity and content without obtaining the required permission. The team said it was seeking appropriate legal remedies and that damages were currently being assessed at ₹7,000 crore.

The development comes amid growing concerns in the entertainment industry over the use of artificial intelligence to reproduce or manipulate the identities, voices and images of public figures.

According to the statement from Rautela’s team, the Los Angeles-based company allegedly used the actress’ name, images and videos without authorization.

The team maintained that commercial use of Urvashi Rautela’s name, image or likeness should take place only after obtaining appropriate permission.

In an exclusive quote shared with IANS, the team said the company’s business had allegedly generated billions of dollars in value through the use of Rautela’s name, images and videos without authorization.

The statement added that legal remedies were being pursued and that the damages were currently being assessed at ₹7,000 crore.

The team also issued a direct message regarding the alleged use of the actress’ identity, stating: “Build your AI (artificial intelligence) company. Build your brand. But keep Urvashi’s name out of your business unless you have permission.”

It further alleged that the company’s business had generated billions of dollars in value by using the actress’ name, images and videos without authorization.

The social media statement repeated the central position taken by the actress’ team: that the use of Rautela’s identity and content for commercial purposes should be authorised.

He went on to describe concerns over people using AI to edit someone’s statements and create material that the person did not actually say.

Khan also referred to the creation of AI-generated videos involving several people and said that he too had appeared in such an AI video.

“You said something, and someone used AI to edit it and kisi ko gali bakdi,” he said, referring to the way manipulated content could potentially be created from a person's statements.

The actor added, “You know what they’re doing? AI videos bana rahe hain yeh. Bahut saare logon ke. And even I am there in the AI video.”
