Maharashtra Couple Allegedly Sells One-Month-Old Baby for Rs 1.20 Lakh

A one-month-old baby was allegedly sold by the child's parents for Rs 1.20 lakh in Maharashtra, with the money reportedly used to buy expensive smartphones and gold jewellery, according to details that emerged during a police investigation.

The case came to light in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and has led to the arrest of seven people, including the child's parents.

Police said the infant was moved out of Maharashtra shortly after the alleged sale. Within 48 hours, the baby was taken through Nanded and into Telangana, where the child was subsequently passed between several people.

The investigation eventually traced the baby to Hyderabad, where police found that the infant had allegedly been sold for Rs 3.50 lakh.

Baby allegedly sold for Rs 1.20 lakh

According to information emerging from the investigation, the child's parents allegedly sold their one-month-old baby for Rs 1.20 lakh.

Police said the money received in the transaction was allegedly used by the couple to purchase costly smartphones and gold ornaments.

The circumstances surrounding the sale prompted police to investigate the movement of the infant and identify the people involved in the transaction.

The case subsequently expanded beyond Maharashtra as investigators traced the baby's movement across state borders.

Infant moved to Telangana within 48 hours

Police found that the baby was taken away from Maharashtra soon after the alleged sale.

Investigators said the infant was transported through Nanded and reached Telangana within 48 hours. During that period, the child allegedly changed hands several times.

Baby allegedly sold again in Hyderabad

According to police findings, the infant was eventually sold in Hyderabad for Rs 3.50 lakh.

The amount was significantly higher than the Rs 1.20 lakh allegedly paid in the initial transaction in Maharashtra.

Police traced the chain of people involved in moving and transferring the child and subsequently took action against those suspected of being connected to the case.

The investigation also focused on establishing the sequence of transactions and the circumstances in which the baby was moved from Maharashtra to Telangana.

Seven people arrested

After the alleged sale came to light, police launched an investigation and arrested seven people, including the child's parents.
